While playing drums I hit the snare on every second Beat& the cymbal every fourth beat which one of the following shows the ratio of the number of times I hit a snare to the number of times i hit the cymbal

Answer:When you play every beat (1, 2, 3, 4) on the snare it’s often called “four on the floor”. True four on the floor would seem to be a bass hit on every beat, like in disco, but don’t let that confuse you. It’s the same musical concept.

“Pretty Woman” is a good example of a four on the floor. I don’t know if four on the floor is exactly a style, because I hear it in classic soul, punk and whatever, but it’s definitely an approach. It’s a way to mix it up, maybe adding a little tension or forward motion without turning up the metronome. The Stooges’ “I Wanna Be Your Dog” is a good example of a song that half-way commits to the four on the floor, and the resulting feel is kind of like falling or stumbling
