If women make up 50% of the population, why has there never been a woman prime minister in Canada or a woman president in the US? The gender pay gap still exists at some level in every country in the world. In countries that have large populations living in poverty, this further impacts the difficulties and inequalities faced by women.

Just to point you in the right direction, Canada did have a very capable woman as Prime Minister from May 1993 to November of 1993. You may be outraged by how little time she spent in office. The problem in Canada is that the Conservatives are a divided bunch. They make a wonderful opposition, but are actually not good at stable political leadership.

I don't exactly know what your question is, but you have to remember that women have only had the vote since 1917 in Canada and about 2 years later in the United States. It is not a long time as politics go, to find someone as charismatic as Lincoln (although he was not that popular in his own time) or as prepared or well educated politically to lead as Jefferson and Washington and Adams were.
