Joe has 5 shirts, 3 pairs of pants and 4 pairs of shoes. He needs to make an outfit containing one of each item. How many different outfits are possible?

This is pretty difficult to explain, but this is basically how you do it when you want to see how many combinations of something there are for multiple different things. Basically, for each of the 5 shirts, there are 3 different pants, and for each of the pants there are 4 shoes. So each pant has 4 shoes, then multiply that by 3 for the 3 pants for each shirt. After that, multiply by 5 for each shirt in the outfits.
