What is the value of x when (f°g)(x)=-8-example-1

According to the table,

f(x) = -8 ⇒ x = -4

and according to the definition of g(x),

g(x) = -4 ⇒ x = 3

Then

(f o g)(x) = f(g(x)) = -8 ⇒ g(x) = -4 ⇒ x = 3
