Answer:

m is the slope.

b is the y intercept.

slope intercept is in the form: y = mx + b.

y - 4 = 3 (x - 2) [m = 3] [slope is 3]

y = 3/4x - 7 [m = 3/4] [slope is 3/4]

y + 8 = -6 (x - 1) [m = -6] [slope is -6]

y = -5x + 10 [m = -5] [slope is -5]

4x + 5y = 20 [m = -4/5] [slope is -4/5]

Explanation:

For all of these equations, make sure they are all in slope intercept form by isolating y completely, and getting it on the left side of the equation.

  1. y - 4 = 3 (x - 2) → y - 4 = 3x - 6 → y = 3x - 2 → y = mx + b.
  2. y = 3/4x - 7 → y = mx + b
  3. y + 8 = -6 (x - 1) → y + 8 = -6x + 1 →. y = -6x - 7 → y = mx + b
  4. y = -5x + 10 → y = mx + b
  5. 4x + 5y = 20 → 5y = -4x + 20 → y = -4/5x + 4 → y = mx + b
