"Steven is with a large group of friends at the movie theater. He plans on buying a few popcorns and drinks for his friends. Each popcorn cost 54 and each drink cost $3. He only has $24 with him." What would be an appropriate set of inequalities to represent how many popcorns and drinks that Steven could purchase (p = number of popcorns, d = number of drinks)?

Answer:

Option (D).

Explanation:

Cost of the popcorn purchased by Steven = $4 for each popcorn

And cost of drinks purchased = $3 for each drink

Cost of 'p' popcorn = $4p

Cost of 'd' drinks = $3d

Total money Steven has to spend = $24

Inequality representing the expenditure will be,

4p + 3d ≤ 24

Constraints for the inequality are,

p ≥ 0

d ≥ 0

Therefore, Option (D) will be the answer.
