Water is a basic need of life, and many early civilizations were created and located along rivers because that made acquiring drinking water extremely efficient and helped these civilizations thrive. Another reason is agriculture. Many of these early societies created irrigation systems that used water located in these rivers. They also created underground sewage systems that helped keep the homes clean and helped the people safely dispose of their waste.
