How do you solve 18x + 21y=204 and 6x + 14y=82

x=9, y=2

Explanation:

there are multiple ways to solve. I prefer lining both equations up so

18x + 21y =204

6x + 14y = 82

You can multiply 6x +14y =82 by -3 to get -18x + -42y = -246

then add both equations together to get y by itself. so you get

-21y=-42

y = 2

then substitute y back in to either equation and you'll get x=9
