Explanation:

The normal format for point-slope equations is

(y - b) = m(x - a) a is the x-value of the given coordinate, b is the y-value and m is the slope

Here, the slope is 1, so it is understood, and 1 always "disappears" when it is a factor

So substituting the values given

(y - 4) = (x - 1) The parentheses are unnecessary because there is no "m"
