If it’s not in the right place it will mess up the whole problem. It could offset the answer

Answer:

It is important to make sure the decimal point is in the correct spot because if its to the side it could offset the answer.

Explanation:

10.5+8.5=?

if you moved the decimal on the 10 one space to the left the answer would be:

1.05+8.5+9.55

But the correct answer would be:

10.5+8.5=19

Hope this helped!
