Substitute x as the first value of the x-axis and follow the equation getting a coordinate of (x, y), then do the same for the next value and so on.

a)

[1] First we would plot a point at (0, -1) for the y-intercept

[2] Next, we would go down 4 and over one, then put another point down at (1, -5)

[3] I would then draw a line between the two points, and continue it out to the edges of my graph to complete the line.

b) I would use a graphing calculator
