If the fired bullet leaves the gun muzzle parallel to the ground (no vertical y velocity), then it will only have horizontal (x direction) velocity, and the downward force of gravity will be the only vertical y force on the bullet. Hence the time it takes to strike the ground is the same as that of a dropped bullet.
