A survey of 136 American adults measured each participants weight in pounds. If their individual weights were placed in order from smallest to largest give the position (location) of the median. If the median is located between two values give the location of the two middle values

Median = (68th + 69th) / 2

Explanation:

Median can be simply referred to as the middle value if the sample number size (n) is an odd number or average of the two middle values in a given data set if the sample number size (n) is an even number

the given data set has to be arranged from the smallest number to the biggest number before taking the middle number as median or taking the average of the two middle number as median if the sample number size (n) is an even number.

Here our n = 136 which is an even number

So,

Median = Average of the two middle numbers

= [ (n / 2)th term + ((n/2) + 1)th term ] /2

= [ (136/2)th term + ((136/2) + 1 )th term ] /2

Median = (68th + 69th) / 2

therefore the location of the two middle values are ; (68th and 69th) terms
