How did the motivation for founding Georgia compare with the motivation for founding other colonies? While colonies in New England were founded on the basis of religion, Georgia encouraged debtors and the impoverished to start new lives. Like all of the British colonies, Georgia promised American Indians' land to anyone who chose to move there. While Pennsylvania was founded for economic goals, Georgia ignored any idea of monetary gain or advancement. Unlike the other colonies, Georgia offered settlers wages that were paid by the colony.
