In which case does the root word need to change when adding a consonant suffix.

A. if the word ends in y, preceded by a consonant (silly+ness)
B. if the word starts with the same letter that the suffix starts with (life + less)
C. if the word ends in an e, preceded by a consonant (safe + ly)
D. if the word ends in an n, and the suffix starts with an m ( entertain + ment)

It is A. If the word ends in y, preceded by a consonant (silly+ness)

It would not be Sillyness and it would actually rather be “sil·li·ness” as to what the question is asking for!

Hope that helps!
