A flag pole is 35 feet high. The sun shines a shadow of the flag pole to the ground. The shadow,

going out from the base of the flag pole is 12 feet long. What is the distance from the top of the
flag pole to the tip of the shadow?

37 feet (see picture).

Use the Pythagorean theorem as it’s a right triangle. I drew a picture with work because I’m too lazy to type it:
