3x-5y=-2
-3(x+3y=4)
You multiply the whole equation by three so you can cancel out the three x
3x-5y=-2
-3x-9y=-12
Now you can cancel out the 3x
-5y=-2
-9y=-12
Now add them together
-14y=-14
So y=1
