Isolate the variable by dividing each side by factors that don't contain the variable.

M=y/4x + 5/ 4x

y = 4mx - 5

Add sides 5

y + 5 = 4mx - 5 + 5

y + 5 = 4mx

y + 5 = m * (4x)

Divide sides 4x

(y + 5)/(4x) = (m * 4x)/(4x) \\

(y + 5)/(4x) = m \\

m = (y + 5)/(4x) \\
