From there you have two separate triangles with the sides: 10, 6, and x.

You can then you the pythagorian theorum, A^2 + B^2 = C^2, to find x.

By plugging doing so you find out that x is 8.

You then have all the values necessary to find the area of the triangle using the formula A=1/2bh:

A=(1/2)(12)(8)

A=(6)(8)

A=48
