“I couldn’t believe those words were coming out of his mouth. I was waiting for his nose to shoot out like Pinocchio’s. I already knew the truth, which, I just think, made it worse.

I believe the answer is Idiom, correct me if i’m wrong :)

I would say idiom because the text says “ I was waiting for his nose to shoot out LIKE pinocchios” similes use like or as to compare things.
