Answer: false. Most substances contract as they cool because the atoms are arranging themselves into a condensed, stable structure. An exception to this rule is water, since it’s atomic structure in a solid state is less dense than its liquid form. Water is an anomaly though, and most substances follow the rule of cooler = more condensed, warmer = expanded.
