Suppose the y-intercept point is A .

So A = ( 0 , 3 ) ; This is the given point.

_________________________________

y - y( \: g \: p \: ) = slope * ( \: x - x( \: g \: p \: ) \: ) \\

Slope = ½

g p = given point = A = ( 0 , 3 )

Thus :

y - 3 = (1)/(2) * (x - 0) \\

y - 3 = (1)/(2)x - (1)/(2) * 0 \\

y - 3 = (1)/(2)x \\

Add sides 3

y - 3 + 3 = (1)/(2)x + 3 \\

y = (1)/(2)x + 3 \\
