In Alzheimer’s Disease as neurons are injured and die through out the brain connections between networks of neurons may break down and many brain regions begin to shrink. Causing significant loss of brain volume..

Damaged areas of the brain include the hippocampus which is an area that helps new memories form damage to the frontal lobe of the brain eventually causes problems with intelligence, judgement, and behavior.

Alzheimer's disease typically destroys neurons and their connections in parts of the brain involved in memory, including the entorhinal cortex and hippocampus. It later affects areas in the cerebral cortex responsible for language, reasoning, and social behavior.
