having a skeptical attitude in science is important because it pervades science and is applied when making scientific claims. it keeps you wondering if your colleagues claims are right or even if yours are. this is where in the scientific method we do trials to make sure we get the correct answer and we obtain results in all angles so we get every little thing before we prove our hypothesis to be wrong or right.
