8 is the other number

Explanation:

The product of two numbers is 72 lets suppose both the numbers are x and y

which means x multiplied by y equals 72


xy=72

now, one of the numbers is 9 which means lets just say y=9 because its already given in the question that one of the numbers is 9 so it becomes


9x=72

now we simply divide 72 by 9 and x equals 8


x=(72)/(9) \\x=8
