How should measurement of car 2 be taken to accurately measure the distance it travels? Be sure to include where the meter stick should be placed.

the experimental setup, with car 1 is at the top of a ramp and car 2 at the bottom of the ramp

car 1
/ ←top of ramp
/ ←bottom of ramp

Final answer:

To measure the distance car 2 travels, set up a meter stick along its path and use tape to mark the starting position. Time how long it takes for the car to travel using a stopwatch and record the results for analysis.

Step-by-step explanation:

To accurately measure the distance car 2 travels, you need to:

  1. Set up the experimental ramp where car 1 is placed at the top and car 2 at the bottom.
  2. Place a meter stick along the path that car 2 will travel, ensuring the stick starts exactly where car 2 is at rest before the experiment begins.
  3. Use tape to mark the starting position of car 2 and any other key distances you intend to measure along the path of the car after the experiment beings.
  4. Release car 1 and let it collide with or otherwise trigger the motion of car 2.
  5. Once car 2 begins moving, start the stopwatch to time the travel from the starting position to each of the marked distances.
  6. Record these times in a data table for subsequent analysis and calculations such as speed, which is the distance divided by the time taken.

Make sure the marks on the track are clearly visible and that the meter stick does not obstruct the path of the car. Repeat the measurements multiple times to ensure consistency and to reduce experimental error.

answer

The meter stick should be placed at the starting position of car 2 at the base of the ramp so that it measures the part of car 2 that will end up the furthest away from the base of the ramp.

i dont know if this is right or not but my teacher gave me a 90 so there is a 50/50 chance its right or wrong
