If f(x)= 2x-3, find the following:

a. f(-2)

b. f(7)

f(x)= 2x-3

To find the values of x in f(-2) , f(7) and f(-4) , substitute the values of x in the bracket into the above formula and solve

We have


f( - 2) = 2( - 2) + 3 = - 4 + 3 \\ = - 1 \\ \\ f(7) = 2(7) + 3 = 14 + 3 \: \: \: \: \\ = 17 \\ \\ f( - 4) = 2( - 4) + 3 = - 8 + 3 \\ = - 5
