The temperature is 86 in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and is decreasing at a rate of 3 degrees per hour. At the same time, the temperature is 56 in Minot, North Dakota, and is increasing at a rate of 2 degrees per hour. When will the temperature be the same?

Let, after x hours temperature will be the same.

Temperature variation at Mexico :

T_m = 86 -3x .....1)

Temperature variation at Dakota :

T_d = 56 +2x .....2)

Now,

T_m = T_d\\\\86-3x = 56 + 2x\\\\5x = 30\\\\x = 6\ hours

Therefore, after 6 hours the temperature will be same in both areas.

Hence, this is the required solution.
