required, given that there is no left-over.
(c) Each container costs $90. If the total cost of the fertiliser is $648,
(i) form an equation in x.
(ii) Solve this equation to find the number of apple trees

Explanation:

a) the total mass of apples produced = 25x

b) the number of containers of fertilizer required :

`=(0.8x)/(5) \\= 0.16x`

c)

(i) the equation :

648 = 90 × (0.16x)

⇔ 648 = 14.4x

(ii) solving :

648 = 14.4x

⇔ x = 648 ÷ 14.4

= 45
