The function of the liver is to break down fats and build certain proteins. Cirrhosis of the liver is a disease which causes the liver to become thickened and "rubbery." Though it has many causes, one of the most common is due to constant exposure to harmful substances such as alcohol. Hypothesize how enzyme function in the liver would be affected in a person with cirrhosis.

Answer:

Enzyme function would be severely affected by cirrhosis

Step-by-step explanation:

Due to the destruction of the tissue from the liver that is responsible for the production of the enzymes that break important nutrients like fat, the enzymes cannot be more produced, leading to a poor enzymatic effect on those nutrients. The effect on enzymes could be measured by collecting the amount of some substrates that are being circulated on blood vessels, like ammonia. If there is some problem with the enzyme's function from the liver it might be possible that the levels of ammonia could be elevated.
