Vanita went to the library to read books. 1/6 of the books were about animals (zoology) and 5/12 of the books were about plants (botany). How do you write the fraction of the books that were based on biology?

Answer:

Explanation:

Assuming that biology would be the rest of the books read, you would have a common denominator, in this case 12, to determine what was left. 1/6 is 2/12, plus the 5/12. If you're trying to combine the two together then it'll be 7/12. If you're trying to find the remainder, then it would be 5/12
