Answer:

Explanation:

make the denominator of each fraction same (L.C.M of denominators),here 12.

(1)/(3) * (4)/(4 ) =(4)/(12) \\ (1)/(4) * (3)/(3) =(3)/(12)\\ (1)/(3) +(1)/(4) =(4)/(12) +(3)/(12) = (7)/(12)

1/3+1/4=7/12 and not 2/7 because, when you go to transform the fractions with the least common denominator, you will use 12. 1/3 equals 4/12 and 1/4 equals 3/13.
Therefore, you must use the least common denominator and you should NOT ADD THE DENOMINATORS if you add the denominators, you will just get a complete different answer.
