A car needs 3 gallons of gas for 70 miles. How much gas would it need for 105 miles?

Answer:

x = 4.5 gallons

Explanation:

1.) Find how many miles you get per gallon

miles/gallon = 70 miles/3 gallons = 70/3

2.) Set up a proportion and solve

70/3 * 105 / x

(105*3) / 70 = x

315 / 70 = x

x = 4.5
