Assuming this is an opinion peice, here's my opinion.
No, California did not make the right decision removing the statue of Christopher Columbus and Queen Isabella from the State Capitol. Although controversial, these figures should have remained not as a symbol of the atrocities commited on the Native Americans, but as a reminder to be responsible, moral, and peaceful when reaching new frontiers. We should not erase the ugly parts of history; we must learn to embrace them and learn from them, or else the mistakes of the past will come to haunt us in the future.
