The Space Shuttle is initially traveling at a constant speed of 2.0 x 10^3 m/s. It then accelerates at 50 m/s^2 for a distance of 1.0 x 10^4 m. What is its new speed after traveling this distance?

Answer:

v^2 = u^2 + 2as

Given that,

u^2 =2.0 x 10^3 m/s.

a =50 m/s^2

s = 1.0 x 10^4 m

v = \sqrt{ {u}^(2) + 2as } \\v = \sqrt{ {(2 * {10}^(3) )}^(2) + 2 * 50 * {10}^(4) } \\ v = 2236.06 \: m {s}^( - 1)
