9 Last month, when Joe took his puppy to the veterinarian, the puppy weighed 4.9 pounds. This month, the puppy weighed 6.37 pounds. What is the percentage increase of the weight of the puppy? OA. 23% B. 77% OC. 1% D. 30%​

D. 30% is correct.

Explanation:

This is how I know D is correct:

1. I crossed out any unreasonable answers like C and B because I know for a fact that 4.9 to 6.37 cannot be increased by 1% or 77%.

2. The only two answers left are D and A.

3. First taking 4.9 and figuring out the 23% and 30% part of it so:

23%=1.12700 and 30%=1.47. Since 30%(1.47) seemed easier to add on to 4.9 I added the two (4.90+1.47) and got 6.37, this got me my answer faster since 6.37 was the same amount as the puppy's ending weight D is surely the correct answer.

Answer: 30 percent

Explanation:

6.27 - 4.9 = 1.47

1.47 / 4.9 = 0.3

0.3 * 100 = 30
