What are the United Nations and the history behind them?
The United Nations is an international organization made up of sovereign nations created after WW2. It was designed to make enforcement of international law, security, human rights, economic and social progress easier for countries around the world.
The main functions are:
•It provides machinery to find solutions to problems /disputes
•Deals with any matter of concern to humanity
•Work towards and maintain international peace and security
•To develop and promote friendly relations among nations
•to achieve international co-operation in solving international problems of an economic, social, cultural or humanitarian character.
•to be a centre for harmonizing the actions of nations in the attainment of these common ends.
