Answer: x = 3

Explanation:

First u expand 5(2x - 1): 10x - 5

10x - 5 = 8x - 1

then u add 5 to both sides

10x - 5 + 5 = 8x + 1 + 5

then u simply

10x = 8x + 6

then u add 8x from both sides

10x - 8x = 8x + 6 - 8x

then u simplify

2x = 6

Then u divide both sides by 2

2x/2 = 6/2

then u simplify

x = 3

5(2x - 1) = 8x + 1

10x - 5 = 8x + 1

Add sides 5

10x - 5 + 5 = 8x + 1 + 5

10x = 8x + 6

Subtract sides -8x

10x - 8x = 8x - 8x + 6

2x = 6

Divided sides by 2

(2)/(2)x = (6)/(2) \\

x = 3

Check the value :

5 * (2(3) - 1) = 8(3) + 1

5 * (6 - 1) = 24 + 1

5 * 5 = 25

25 = 25

Thus the value which we found is correct.
