Jack’s mom gave him 50 chocolates. At Jack’s party, he gave each of his friends 6 chocolates. Unfortunately Jack was 4 pieces short, and one friend only got 2 pieces of chocolate. How many people were at Jack’s Party?

Answer:

9 friends

Explanation:

since The total is 50.

and each friend was given 6 then the ratio of friend to chocolate is 1:6 .

but one friend received 2.

hance there's two possible ways of solving

one by subtract two and latter adding the friend who did not receive

x=1/6(50-2)

x=1/6(48)

x=8 ; note one did not receive 6.

therefore James had 9 friends.

or better still you could add 4 to the total (which means all received equally)

x=1/6(50+4)

x=1/6(54)

x=9
