Explanation:

First we know that 1 candle holder is $3.50 and Kayla buys 5 candle holders. 3.50 x 5= 17.50 we do this because we have to multiply the price of one candle holder by 5, we then get $17.50. We then subtract 17.50 from 27.50 and that leaves us with 10. So now we know that 5 candles cost $10. we divide 10 by five and that leaves us with 2. So one candle cost $2.
