One example of a producer is grass. A producer’s source of energy is the sun.

One example of a decomposer is a beetle. Decomposers are organisms that decompose organic material.

One example of a consumer is a deer. Consumers are organisms that eat or use other organisms and things.

Herbivores are animals who have a diet of only plants. One example of an herbivore is a caterpillar.

Scavengers are organisms that enjoy consuming decaying materials. One example of a scavenger would be a hyena.
