Explanation:
You would use Pemdaso.
2z+8=-9 (subtract 8 from each side)
2z= -17 (divide 2 from each side)
Z=-8.5

Subtract the 8 from -9, then you get -17. 2z = -17, -17/2 = -8.5, therefore I believe there is one solution which is z = -8.5.
