y= 3x - 5

Explanation:

coordinates given: (4,7) & (1, -2)

to find m (slope) = rise/run = (y2-y1) /(x2-x1)

= ( -2-7) / (1 - 4)

= -9/-3

= 3

therefore, y=3x + b

to find b:

taken coordinate: (4,7)

y=3x + b

7=3 (4) + b

7= 12 + b

7-12 = b

-5 = b

(*the value of b will be same even if we take the other coordinate)

therefore, y = 3x -5
