Answer:

x= 5 and y= 4

Explanation:

2x-3y= -2 ...(Equ 1)

4x+y= 24 ...(Equ 2)

In (equ 2), Make y the subject

4x+y= 24

y= 24-4x ... (Equ 3)

In (Equ 1), Substitute 24-4x for y

2x-3y= -2

2x-3(24-4x) = -2

2x-72+12x = -2

2x+12x= -2+72

14x = 70

x = 70/14

x= 5

To find y; Substitute 5 for x in (Equ 3)

y= 24-4x

y= 24 - 4(5)

y= 24-20

y = 4
