A kite is flying 100 feet off the ground, and its string is pulled taut. The angle of elevation of the kite is 57°. Find the length of the string. Round your answer to the nearest tenth. Do not include units in your answer and round correctly (one decimal place!)

Let the length of the string be the hypotenuse

Let the length of the kite be hypotenuse = 100ft

Using SOH;

Sin57° = opposite/hypotenuse

Sin57° = opp/100

Cross multiply

Opp = 100sin57°

Opp = 83.87feet

Hence the length of the string is 83.9feet to one decimal place
