Jada walks up to a tank of water that can hold up to 10 gallons. When it is active, a drain empties water from the tank at a constant rate. When Jada first sees the tank, it contains 7 gallons of water. Three minutes later, the tank contains 5 gallons of water. At what rate is the amount of water in the tank changing?

Answer:The rate at which the tank is changing water is 2/3 gallons per minute

Explanation:

Step 1

In 3 mins, the tank losses 7 gallons of water - 5 gallons of water

= 7- 5 = 2 gallons of water

In 3 minutes, the tank loses , 2 gallons of water

step 2

To find rate at which amount of water is changing

if 3 minutes, tank loses 2 gallons of water.

then 1 minute the tank will lose = 2/3 gallons

Therefore rate at which tank is changing water is 2/3 gallons per minute
