Danielle went running two days in a row.

She ran 4 1/5 miles on Monday.
She ran a different distance on Tuesday.
She ran a total of 7 1/2 miles on both days.
Which equation and solution show the number of miles, x, that Danielle ran on Tuesday?

A
4 1/5 +x= 7 1/2
x=3 3/10 miles

B
4 1/5x=7 1/2
x=25/14 miles

C
4 1/5+ 7 1/2=x
x=11 7/10 miles

D
4 1/5×7 1/2=x
x= 31 1/2 miles

Answer:

A

Explanation:

Instead of subtracting 7 1/2 minus 4 1/5 you would add 4 1/5 and something else which would be the X and then the sum, and now since they give you an option of an answer add 4 1/5 + 3 3/10, you would have to make them an equal fraction so first make them an improper fraction 4 1/5 = 21/5. And 3 3/10= 33/10 you have to find a common factor I think that would make 5 into a 10 which is 2 so you would have to multiply both the numerator and denominator by 2 so

21/5. 21x2 and 5x2 = 42/10 and 33/10 then you convert them back into whole numbers which would be 42/10 = 4 2/10 and 33/10 = 3 3/10 add that and get 7 5/10 = 7 1/2 . Hope that helped I’m bad at explaining sorry.
