Answer:

3y = -x + 17

Explanation:

Equation of a line is in the form:

y = mx + c

where m is slope and c is intercept

Mathematically;

slope m = (y2-y1)/(x2-x1)

= (6-4)/(-1-5) = 2/-6 = -1/3

So the equation is now;

y = -x/3 + c

Multiply through by 3

3y = -x + 3c

To get c substitute the value of a point say (5,4)

x = 5 and y = 4

3(4) = -5 + 3c

12 = -5 + 3c

12+ 5 = 3c

3c = 17

c = 17/3

So the equation is

y = -x/3 + 17/3

and that is

3y = -x + 17
