40. 8 x (40+7) = 376, 376 - 8x7 = 320, and 320/8 equals 40.

The number would be 40. 8 x 47 is 376. On the other side, 8 x 7 is 56. 376 - 56 = 320 and 320/8 = 40. Hope this helps!
