Please solve this story problem

Jeremy is looking at two different lawncare companies to weed and mulch his
flower beds, Greenscape Lawncare offers to charge $100 for the mulch plus $12 per hr for the labor. D&J Landscape offers to charge $23 per hr for the job including the mulch. What is the minimum number of hours the job could be for D & J Landscape to have the better deal?

Answer:

100 + 12x = 23x (where x is the number of hours) (minus 12x to both sides)

100 = 11x (divide by 11 to both sides)

x = 9.09 hours. The D&J Landscape will have to spend less than 9.09 hours in order to be more cost effective

100 + 12x = 23x (where x is the number of hours) (minus 12x to both sides)

100 = 11x (divide by 11 to both sides)

x = 9.09 hours. The D&J Landscape will have to spend less than 9.09 hours in order to be more cost effective

Proof:

3 hours

D&J = $69 Greenscape Lawncare = $136

15 hours

D&J = $345 Greenscape Lawncare = $280

9.09 hours

D&J = $209.07 ~ Greenscape Lawncare = $209.08
